Former Massachusetts senator Bill Golden has put his restored 128-foot Nantucket lightship up for sale. Asking price: $4,950,000. The ship, built in the 1950’s, was one of several lightships once stationed on Nantucket Shoals. It is currently docked in Boston Harbor, although the ship has also visited Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York City.

Golden and his wife bought the ship at auction in 2000 and set about redesigning and upgrading the interior. The 4,000 square feet of living space includes a kitchen, den, and dining room with wood paneling and porthole windows, as well as six bedrooms and 6 1/2 baths. There is also an entertainment area TV and an original poker table.

Word has it that the Goldens are considering the purchase of a second Nantucket lightship.
