Review: Regal 2100 RX Sportboat

Want to know how to judge a boat’s quality? One way is to look at how its builder gradually improves its bread-and-butter models over time. The new 2100 from Regal Boats is a case in point, and it’s far beyond basic.
The 2100 rides on Regal’s proprietary FasTrac ventilated hull, constructed with the company’s LifeCore composite engineering system, which focuses material strength on primary stress points. The manufacturing process runs according to ISO standards, a process to which Regal has adhered since 2001. The hull, protected from blisters with a vinylester skin coat, comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
Standard features include an automatic fire-suppression system in the engine compartment, Deutsch connectors throughout the 2100’s robust, standardized wiring harness, and a battery switch. Functional options include a dual-battery system with tray and switch.
OK, but what about performance and fun on the water? The 2100 has a large cockpit, a sunpad with generous swim platform, lounge seats in the bow, massive storage space (including a specific compartment for a portable 25-quart Igloo cooler), and a 6-speaker Fusion stereo system. Options include an air compressor for inflating tow toys and an electrically articulated tow tower.
The clean, modern engine will provide a top speed in the upper 40s with most efficient cruising from the mid-20s to the low 30s.
