RI Boat Company Founder Dies After Race
Michael Fiore

A Bristol, Rhode Island man who was founder and president of Bristol-based Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats Company died Tuesday night (August 26, 2014) at a hospital after sustaining injuries at a powerboat competition last weekend in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, according to an article on ProvidenceJournal.com.

Michael Fiore, 44, developed complications from surgery when he died at University Hospital in Missouri. On Saturday, Fiore was among those competing in the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. An online report posted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol listed Fiore, 44, as a driver of the 44’ catamaran. The Highway Patrol’s description says the accident occurred as the drivers of the vessel “lost control at high speeds due to wind interference, becoming airborne and overturning twice before re-entering the water bow first and coming to a rest end-over-end on the water.”
