RI Submarine Builder to Expand

Projo.com: Rhode Island’s hard-hit manufacturing sector received good news Tuesday (January 11) as submarine-maker Electric Boat announced a $40-million expansion at its Quonset Point facility and the addition of 400 jobs there.
“I can never remember a time when I felt as optimistic, as positive, about our future,” Electric Boat President John P. Casey said at an afternoon briefing for Rhode Island’s elected leaders.
That echoed comments he made in the morning at a similar gathering in Groton, Conn., where the shipbuilder has its headquarters and the bulk of its 10,000-person work force. “It’s a fantastic time to be in the submarine business,” he said in the morning.
