Riptide Report: Pot Hopping
August 27, 2011
Over the last few weeks we have been doing a bunch of shark fishing south of Martha’s Vineyard with our sports. While running offshore we have taken advantage of the great light-tackle fishing for exotics along the way.
Just the other day we ran out and one particular high-flier caught my eye. It was a good thing it did, since it was loaded with mahi mahi.
My sports landed them on light Shimano spinning gear throwing Rapala X-Raps and 8- to 9-weight fly rods. The fish were so willing to stay around the boat they gave me time to shoot some video both above and below the water.
It was rough due to the impending hurricane, so the footage is a bit shaky, but the video still shows the crazy amount of exotics we had around us. Enjoy.
