Round Hill Salt Marsh in Dartmouth, MA, to be Restored
November 10, 2013
SouthCoastToday: An early airfield created in 1928 at the whim of the wealthy Col. Edward H.R. Green and long left for cedar scrub is returning to its natural state thanks to manmade engineering of an original salt marsh.
The Round Hill Salt Marsh project, which Friday [November 1] received $2.77 million from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, will restore about 12 acres of marsh north of Round Hill Beach and enhance the larger Meadow Shores Marsh, recreating a valuable wetland resource, said Dartmouth’s Environmental Affairs Coordinator Michael O’Reilly.
