Sailboat Saved in Westport, MA

Rhody Beat reports that a 45’ sailboat broke free of its mooring in Westport, MA, and had to be corralled by local harbormasters on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

A man spotted the boat drifting away from its mooring on the Horseneck side of the channel across toward Boathouse Row at around 9:10 a.m. and alerted the harbormaster’s office.

Two other men managed to fend the vessel off the rocks.

The boat was later towed to a mooring off Tripp’s Boatyard, and did not appear to have suffered any damage.
