Save The Bay Exploration Center and Aquarium Announces Winter Hours
October 19, 2011
The Save The Bay Exploration Center and Aquarium in Newport, Rhode Island, is a great off-season family destination. It’s a place where kids can get face-to-fin with lobsters, crabs, moon jellies, sea cucumbers and some funky looking fish. The interactive marine science center is home to 14 exhibits and some 140 species of Narragansett Bay creatures.
The Center is now open for the winter season from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every Sunday through April 22. It is also open daily during school vacation weeks: February 18-26 and April 14-22.
October’s theme is Invasion of the Bay Snatchers! Bay Snatchers, also known as invasive species, are a problem worldwide.
On October 23 and October 30, experience the Haunted Aquarium as the Exploration Center is transformed into a creepy display of Narragansett Bay’s most interesting critters. Learn about such strange and spooky creatures as jittery jellyfish, monstrous mantis shrimp and scary skates.
