Some New England Beaches Unsafe for Swimming

Boston.com: Ten percent of beaches nationwide failed the federal benchmark for water quality levels considered safe for swimming, including several in New England, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council 24th annual beach report.
Considered among the most polluted beaches are Cockle Cove Creek in Massachusetts’ Barnstable County, and Goodies Beach in Maine’s Knox County. Both beaches’ water samples failed to meet the quality standards more than 25 percent of the time over the past 4 years.
