On Saturday, August 9, 2014, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay will host a one-mile, championship chip timed, professionally staffed, competitive swim followed by a two-mile, chip-timed Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) competition. Beginners in the SUP are welcome to compete in a separate heat (with a board that is 12′ or less) instead of the experienced race (high performance boards).

Proceeds from the swim will benefit Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, while funds raised from the SUP competition will benefit both the Massachusetts Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and Save the Harbor/Save the Bay.

The Swim and Paddle for Boston Harbor will take place at the BCYF Curley Community Center at M Street Beach in South Boston, which is among the cleanest urban beaches in America. Swimmers will follow the shoreline from the Curley Center in a triangle and return to shoreline at M Street Beach.

The events will feature six ways for participants to win tickets on JetBlue Airways.

The participant in the Swim and Paddle for Boston Harbor, who raises the most money to support Save the Harbor/Save the Bay and the work they do to restore and protect Boston Harbor and Massachusetts Bay, will win a round trip ticket on JetBlue Airways to any non-stop destination they fly from Logan Airport. Every donor who pledges will be entered into a raffle to win a ticket for JetBlue Airways.

Two swimmers, the first place male and female, will also win a round trip ticket on JetBlue Airways. The top finishers in the competitive Stand Up Paddleboard competition in both the male and female category will also win a round trip ticket on JetBlue Airways.

Swimmers, paddlers, supporters, and sponsors are all welcome to join the gathering on the beach for an icy cold Harpoon beer and treats from Tasty Burger after the swim. To join the party, you do not have to complete the one mile swim or paddle, but you do have to make a contribution of at least $25.

Registration for the swim is just $50. The race is open to both wet suit and non-wet suit swimmers. This year’s race will be capped at 100 swimmers.

Registration for the Stand Up Paddleboard Competition is only $25. If you need a paddleboard, rentals for both beginners (under 12′) and for experienced (high performance), are available through the registration page.

Registration deadline for chip timed competitive swimmers closes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Day-Of Registration Fee for Swim is $60 and for SUP is $40.
