Swimmers, Paddlers Rescued off Nantucket

Nantucket Inquirer & Mirror reports on a busy day for island rescue personnel on Friday, Aug. 12. A woman, child and kayaker were pulled from the waters off Great Point by a charter-fishing boat after being swept offshore, and 2 paddleboarders were assisted to shore by a lifeguard off 40th Pole Beach.
The 41-year-old woman and 8-year-old child were swimming when they were pulled offshore. A male kayaker attempted to rescue them before being swept offshore and needing help himself.
