The city of Rockland, Maine, will host Tall Ships America next summer, to the tune of around $27,000. The ships will be touring Maine as part of the state’s bicentennial celebration.

Rockland’s contract with Tall Ships America, which was approved by city councillors, waives any dockage fees. The city must also provide electricity and water for the ships, according to the contract.

Given such obligations, Rockland’s harbor management commission has raised objection to the deal, fearing the arrangement could burden the city financially.
