Ticket Sales Start for Mystic Lantern Light Tours
November 23, 2010
The Mystic Seaport’s annual Lantern Light Tours is a 70-minute progressive play that takes the audience back to Christmas past. Visitors tour Mystic Seaport on foot, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, experience a traditional tavern dance and may even catch a glimpse of St. Nicholas.
This year’s performance, “The Carpenter,” transports visitors back to the town of Mystic on Christmas Eve 1876. People from near and far are traveling to the small village and the townspeople are talking of the events that led up to this night: local financier and politician Harold King’s referendum requiring everyone to register to vote; the current political and economic hardships; the arrival of three lawyers from Orient Point; the birth of baby John to Elizabeth; and Joseph and Virginia Sawyer’s travails as they arrive in town just in time for the birth of their son.
