Uploaded On January 24, 2017 - Updated on March 2, 2017
In this episode, New England Boating visits the historic town of Scituate, on the South Shore of Massachusetts. With the Mill Wharf Marina serving as their home base, co-hosts Parker Kelley and Tom Richardson head off on adventures in and around the well-protected harbor. These include a striper-fishing trip with Polar Bear Charters, a dock-and-dine feast at TK O’Malley’s, a visit to the Old Scituate Lighthouse, a sailboat outing with Scituate Sailing and a beach excursion to the “Spit”, at the mouth of the North River.
Also on tap is a tour of the harbor with harbormaster Mike Bearce, who provides some navigational information for boaters, as well as a look at the town’s excellent launch facility and municipal marina. Parker gives viewers a looks at the harbor’s shoreside attractions, including its many shops, restaurants and the Inn at Scituate Harbor. Along the way she prepares a fish dish at Riva and enjoys some fresh oysters with Tom and friends at Restaurant Oro. Tom also stops by Kukstis Woodworking to try his hand at wood-carving, and gets a lesson in “Irish mossing” with former seaweed harvester Hawk Hickman.
