Uploaded On January 23, 2017 - Updated on March 2, 2017
In this episode of New England Boating TV, co-hosts Parker Kelley and Tom Richardson visit the historic port of Bristol, Rhode Island, in Upper Narragansett Bay. With a Pursuit C260 center console—provided by Striper Marina in nearby Barrington—as their ticket to adventure, Tom and Parker explore boater-friendly Bristol Harbor with harbormaster Mark Marsili, catch some big striped bass with local guide Brian Patterson, dock-and-dine at the Waterside Grill & Bar and the historic DeWolf Tavern, and visit with the folks at Bristol Marine boatyard and marina.
Another highlight is a trip to the Herreshoff Marine Museum and America’s Cup Hall of Fame, where CEO Dyer Jones shows Tom some of the restored wooden boats and other fascinating items reflecting the genius of legendary naval architect Nathanael Greene Herreshoff. If you dig wooden boats and boating history, you won’t want to miss this segment!
Meanwhile, Parker takes a stroll through the beautiful village of Bristol and its many shops, parks and boutiques—all of it just steps from the waterfront. Never afraid to get her feet wet, Parker also tries her hand at clamming on the flats of Hog Island with local boater Chuck Millard and his grandkids Nick, Charlotte, Caroline and Maggie. She also takes a sunset sail through the harbor with Captain Jim Lengel out of the Bristol Yacht Club aboard his 38’ yawl Top Cat.
