EPISODE 7: Salem, MA

Witches are just a bonus for boaters who bring their boats to Salem, on the North Shore of Massachusetts, as the NEBO crew discovers in this episode. This historic port once served as the trading capital of the U.S., receiving goods from all over the world, and is the birthplace of writer Nathaniel Hawthorne. This episode of NEBO TV examines the city’s past, as well as its amenities for modern mariners.

Stops along the way include the world-renowned Peabody Essex Museum, the House of the Seven Gables, and a dock-and-dine lunch at the excellent Finz restaurant. Along the way, co-hosts Parker Kelley and Tom Richardson also stop Joe’s Fresh Fish Prints & Tomo’s Tackle on Pickering Wharf to make their own Gyotaku fish prints.

Speaking of fish, the co-hosts catch some big stripers on live mackerel then tour the harbor with a local boating couple. They also check in with the folks at Brewer Hawthorne Cove Marina to discuss their services and transient options for visiting boaters.
