Two Swept off Rocks in Gloucester

August 31, 2010: Coast Guard crews from Station Gloucester, Massachusetts, recovered 2 persons off Gloucester in separate incidents. The first occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m., when someone reported that an elderly man had been swept off the rocks and into the water near Eastern Point. Rescue crews responded and pulled a 67-year-old man from the water. The man was unresponsive and later transferred to EMS personnel.

Just over an hour later, at 4:36 p.m., the Coast Guard received a call reporting that another man had been knocked off the rocks and into the sea off Normans Woe Cove. A 25-foot rescue boat crew arrived minutes later to find a man struggling in the water. Crews pulled the man from the water and delivered him to EMS at 4:49 p.m. at Station Gloucester.
