Video: Bass Fishing on the Lower Charles River

I’ve been intrigued about fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass on the lower Charles River ever since I read about Capt. Greg Miner’s charter service, Charles River Charters. Miner routinely catches bass up to 4 pounds in the shadow of the Boston skyline, and I wanted to get in on some of that urban action. CharlesRiver_Miner-holds-a-lagoon-largemouth-560x343

I got my chance in late May 2014, when I shot the accompanying video. As you’ll see, Miner is the real deal, and so is the Charles River when it comes to a bona fide urban fishery. It’s also a success story about how a once-defiled and defamed waterway can be rejuvenated for all to enjoy. CharlesRiver_Greg-Miner-fishes-an-Esplanade-lagoon-as-rush-hour-traffic-roars-past-on-Storrow-Drive-560x343

If you’re interested in a truly unique urban fishing experience, contact Charles River Charters at charlesrivercharters.com; (508) 560-2496. Miner also guides on the upper portions of the river, as well as local lakes and ponds in the metro Boston area.
