Video: Testing the Allied Boat Works RB-19
December 12, 2011
On October 8, 2011, New England Boating’s Mike King and I drove to Portland, Maine, where we met up with the team from Allied Boat Works (a New England Boating sponsor) to test the company’s rugged RB-19 Downeast-style skiff on a chilly, choppy Portland Harbor.
Allied owners Dave Cunniffe, Gene Foss and Steve Packard were waiting for us at Portland’s East End Beach boat ramp, along with an RB-19 they had trailered from the company’s Peru, Maine, facility. Winds were blowing at a brisk 15 knots out of the north, kicking up a short-spaced chop—ideal conditions for a test, if not a pleasant day on the water.
Check out the video above to get a closer look at the RB-19, or you can read more about the boat and its bigger sister, the RB-20, by clicking on the link below. We think you’ll find that both boats are stable, affordable, efficient and versatile platforms for all kinds of activities, from fishing to waterskiing and everything in between.
