Visit “Planet Plankton” in Newport, RI
December 22, 2010
Looking for a fun, educational marine-related activity to share with the kids? Save The Bay’s Exploration Center on Easton’s Beach in Newport, Rhode Island, will conduct visits to the tiny and fascinating world of plankton throughout January.
Some of Narragansett Bay’s most important residents are so tiny that you need a microscope to see them. Plankton forms the base of the food chain, gives us 70% of the oxygen we breathe and makes an excellent model for some cool crafts. The Center also features an aquarium and other fun things for children and adults to do and see. Combine it with a trip to Newport for lunch and you’ve got the makings of a fun winter day.
