What’s with all the Weird Lobsters?
June 24, 2012
The recent discovery of a rare orange lobster in a Mansfield seafood store got us thinking about all the unusual lobsters that have turned up in the Northeast in the 6 months.
It all started with a calico lobster discovered in Chatham in December, followed by another calico lobster that was spared the pot in New York in May. Then a blue lobster was caught off Canada in early June. Lastly, there’s the case of the giant 27-pound crustacean caught off Maine.
You’d think that the lobster industry would take advantage of this free press, especially since they are looking to increase demand for their product via a major branding campaign. Our suggestion would be cheaper: round up the bizarre bugs and take them on tour.
