The Lincoln County News reports that Preston Dunning has replaced Dan Bradford as Wiscassett, Maine’s new harbormaster. Dunning is an emergency medical technician and a lifelong resident of Wiscasset who grew up swimming and fishing in the Sheepscot River. He holds a certificate for small-craft navigation and will attend a Maine Harbor Master Association training course to become certified as a harbormaster.

Currently, the Town of Wiscasset harbormaster receives an annual stipend of $7,500.

Dunning told the News that he would like to see more people using the waterfront, and that he is reopening the harbormaster’s office, which has been out of use for a number of years, to increase his visibility and connection to the community.
