Repairs have begun on the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center breakwater in Woods Hole, MA, under the terms of a $305,000 contract issued by the Army Corps of Engineers.

The work is being accomplished by the Robert B. Our Company of Harwich. Construction started on December 11, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed by February 2015.

“The work involves repairing those sections of the NOAA-owned breakwater that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy in late October 2012,” said Project Manager Mike Walsh, of the Corps’ New England District, Programs/Project Management Division. “The work on this project consists of demolishing the outmost 128’ of the stone jetty and using those stones to rebuild the remaining inner 126’ of the jetty.”
