Work Continues on Massive New RI Pier
June 27, 2014
Construction is progressing on a massive, new $2 million pier at Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island, according to an article on NewportThisWeek.com.
Once complete, the 240’ dock, which is being paid for by the state, will serve as a hub for events such as a stopover for the Volvo Ocean Race next May, as well as home to the soon-to-splash tall ship SSV Oliver Hazard Perry. Crews can be seen almost every day making headway on the project, which gained traction after the state’s flirtations with America’s Cup organizers a few years back.
