The New Harbor 28 is based on the classic Wasque 26 hull originally designed by John Alden, but incorporates modern features, construction, and a hull extension for outboard power. Built by Maine’s Front Street Shipyard, the boat is solid fiberglass below the waterline and foam core above. Deck, stringers, and bulkhead are all foam core.
At 28 feet, the New Harbor 28 is the perfect size for day cruising or overnighting for two, and its 85 square feet of cockpit space lends itself to a variety of potential configurations. A built-in transom bench allows for comfortable entertaining and offers loads of storage, while under-gunwale racks accommodate rods, boat hooks, and brushes.
Below is a cushioned vee-berth for two with cherry trim. A stainless steel sink and 22-gallon freshwater tank are optional, as is a toilet.
The boat cruises at 20 knots and has a top speed of 30 knots. Range is 380 miles at 9 knots (2000 rpm) on the 117-gallon tank.
