Norwalk, CT Gets $3.5M To Renovate Dock
The boating scene in Norwalk, Connecticut is about to get a serious makeover.
Officials in Norwalk recently broke ground on a project to renovate the city’s popular Veterans Memorial Park and Marina dock and make the waterfront more accessible for boaters.
The state of Connecticut awarded a $3.5 million grant to Norwalk for the renovation. The total project will reportedly be $4.2 million, with the additional funds coming from the city of Norwalk.
Connecticut State Senator Bob Duff said the project will provide berthing for vessels up to 18 feet, with several new slips for vessels 25 feet in length, designated space for dinghies serving harbor moorings, and new accommodations for personal watercraft.
Additional site improvements will include restoration of adjacent tidal wetlands and reconfiguration of the parking area to enhance traffic flow and overall site efficiency. New power and water supplies will also be included.
The $3.5 million grant helps finance the removal and replacement of all existing floats, pilings, fixed piers, and ramps.
