December 11, 2024Boston Duck Boat Crew Honored for Charles River Rescue
On November 15, 2024, Captain Leah Reynolds and crewman Robert Jackson of the Boston Duck Tour boat Nadia were honored by U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston for their September 28 rescue of an individual who was clinging to a bridge abutment on the lower Charles River.
During the rescue, Reynolds deftly maneuvered the duck boat next to the abutment, allowing Jackson to reach the person in distress and help them aboard.
“The immediate response and rapid thinking by the Nadia’s crew are a shining example of professionalism in action and serve as a testament to the importance of competent and well-trained mariners on the water,” read a Coast Guard Sector Boston Facebook post.
Coast Guard Sector Boston presented Reynolds and Jackson each with a Certificate of Merit and unit coins. The Certificate of Merit recognizes members of the public who demonstrate exemplary action and help the Coast Guard carry out its missions.
