Build Your Own Boat At The NH Boat Museum

Have you ever wanted to build your own boat but didn’t know how?
You’ll get your chance in July when the New Hampshire Boat Museum offers a nine-day boat building class.
The class starts Saturday, July 12, and ends Sunday, July 20. Classes take place each day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Designed for beginners and hobbyists ages 12 and up, this hands-on course allows participants to build a boat from a high-quality kit using premium materials. Families participating can include children ages eight and older.
“Building your own boat is an incredible hands-on STEM experience that brings science, technology, engineering, and math to life,” said Anne Lennon, the museum’s programs manager. “From designing the hull to understanding buoyancy and woodworking techniques, every step challenges problem-solving skills and creativity.”
The boatbuilding session will conclude with a celebratory launch on Lake Wentworth. Available boats in the class include a two-person canoe, kayak, wood duck kayak, paddleboard, or three-person Bevin’s Skiff.
Prices range from $1,295 for the canoe or kayak to $1,895 for the Bevin’s Skiff. The museum offers full and partial scholarships.
