Crews Search For Missing Boater In Maine
Coast Guard crews and local and state police are searching Maine’s Kennebec River for a boater who went missing when he tried to save his dog from the water over the weekend.
According to Maine Marine Patrol officials, Robert Stolt, 22, of Augusta, Maine, was fishing on the river near Lines Island on Sunday, July 6, when his dog jumped out of the 23-foot boat and into the water.
Both Stolt and a woman who was also on the boat jumped into the water after the dog.
The woman was reportedly rescued by people in a nearby boat, and she was treated by EMS for minor injuries.
The dog was also rescued, but officials said Stolt was not found.
Crews searched Sunday until poor visibility halted the search at 11 p.m. They resumed the search Monday.
