Boston Light

Welcome to Boston Light

BOSTON LIGHT ON LITTLE BREWSTER ISLAND HAS STOOD SENTINEL OVER THE BOSTON HARBOR SINCE 1783 (IT REPLACED A PREVIOUS STRUCTURE DESTROYED BY THE BRITISH IN 1776). LITTLE BREWSTER, PART OF THE BOSTON HARBOR ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK, HAS LONG BEEN OFF-LIMITS TO RECREATIONAL BOATERS—UNTIL NOW.

This year (2013) the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance announced that private-boaters will be allowed to drop off and pick up passengers at the island’s dock at specific times during the 2013 season, so that they may tour the lighthouse.

If you’re interested in tours of Boston Light, plan on arriving between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. No reservations are necessary.

Boaters are required to touch-and-go for drop-off and pick-up only; no tie-ups allowed. The lighthouse tours take place from June 15 through September 29, 2013.
