Lake Winnie Launch Ramp Guide

Planning a trip to New Hampshire’s largest lake this summer and bringing your own boat, canoe, or kayak? Here’s a town-by-town guide to public launch ramps on Lake Winnipesaukee to help you get on the water and start having fun. Keep in mind that many of the lake’s marinas also offer launch ramps.


 

Alton

 

  • Alton Bay State Ramp: Located at the southern end of Alton Bay, where Routes 11 and 28A meet. It’s a large ramp with plenty of parking and it’s free to use.
  • Alton Bay Public Launch: You’ll find this about a quarter-mile north of the Route 11 bridge, on Route 11, in a public parking lot. Public trailer parking is about half a mile away. This ramp is free.
  • Downing’s Landing: Just east of the Route 11 bridge. There’s a fee of $15-$20 to use this ramp.

 

Center Harbor

 

  • Center Harbor Public Docks: Situated in downtown Center Harbor, with parking conveniently nearby. There’s a $10 fee.

 

Gilford

 

  • Fay’s Boat Yard: Located at 71 Varney Point Road in Gilford. From the junction of Routes 11 and 11B, head east on Route 11 for 0.1 miles, then turn left onto Varney Point Road. There’s a $15 fee to launch here. You can reach them at (603) 293-8000.

 

Meredith

 

  • Meredith Town Dock: Find this on Route 3 at the public parking lot. Trailer parking is nearby on the left side of the Aubuchon Hardware lot. The fee is $10.
  • Meredith Town Ramp: Located at Shep Brown’s Boat Basin on Lovejoy Road. This ramp has a $20 fee.

 

Moultonborough

 

  • Harilla Landing: From Route 25, go 6.2 miles south/east on Moultonborough Neck Road and bear right onto Long Island Road. After crossing the bridge, go 2.2 miles on Old Long Island Road and take a left at the sign for Harilla Landing Yacht Club. This is a good ramp with a float and parking, and it’s free.
  • Lees Mill Road: From Moultonborough Center, go 0.4 miles south on Route 25, then turn left onto Blake Road. At the end of Blake Road, turn right onto Lees Mill Road and continue to the end. There’s ample parking, and it’s free.

 

Tuftonboro

 

  • Melvin Village Public Landing: Located off Route 109. This ramp is free.

 

Wolfeboro

 

  • Libby Museum: On Route 109, 3.1 miles northwest of town. Free to use.
  • Back Bay Public Dock: One block north of the lake on Railroad Avenue, behind the old Wolfeboro railroad terminal. Be aware that access to the lake requires passage below a bridge with a clearance of 4.2 feet. This ramp is free.
