Herreshoff Museum to Host Classic Yacht Regatta

The Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island has announced it will host its annual Classic Yacht Regatta in August.

The regatta featuring breathtakingly beautiful classic sailboats in action will take place from Friday, August 22 through Sunday, August 24.

The weekend’s events kickoff on Friday with the Living Boat Show, giving visitors a chance to get an up-close look at the classic yachts.

The show will take place on the waterfront following Friday’s feeder race from Newport to Bristol. Admission is $20, although competitors with completed regatta waivers are free.

Two races are scheduled for Saturday (conditions permitting) followed by post-race cocktails and Saturday evening’s prize presentations and dinner. One dinner ticket is included in the entry fee.

Sunday’s program will start with a “hot lap” race around Hog Island, which will be followed by a race to Newport finishing off at Fort Adams. Sunday’s races will not count toward the CYOA Classic Yachts Challenge Series scores.
