A new film from Explore New England profiles Northern Grand Laker and Freighter Canoes on Maine’s Moosehead Lake.

The film “Time Tested: Northern Grand Laker & Freighter Canoes on Moosehead Lake, Maine” debuts tonight, November 21, at 6 p.m.

“Time Tested” features members of the Northern Grand Laker / Freighter Canoe Group during their spring rendezvous on Spencer Bay on Moosehead Lake.

The Grand Laker and Freighter canoes are classic craft purpose-built for sport fishing and hauling heavy payloads over big northern lakes.

Today, their proven designs live on through modern fiberglass builds, meticulous restoration, and new wood craftsmanship. They are both beautiful and practical, and spectacular Moosehead Lake is the perfect venue for showcasing their attributes.
