Fire Damages Boats at Connecticut Marina

A large boat fire at Hays Haven Marina in Chester, Connecticut, Monday night caused damage to at least one boat and possibly others.

Several posts on social media Monday night showed at least one vessel engulfed in flames at the marina on Monday, September 2.

The blaze was extinguished by local fire department personnel, and Hays Haven Marina posted on their Facebook account that there were no injuries.

“Thank you to the swift actions of our local fire department,” read a Facebook statement from Hays Haven Marina. “We are assessing the damages. We appreciate everyone reaching out for support.”

Social media photos taken after the blaze was extinguished appeared to show significant damage to at least two vessels.

An employee at Hays Haven Marina said in a call Tuesday morning that he would not comment further on the details of the fire until an investigation into the cause and damage was completed.
