Fishing Boat Runs Aground off Cape Cod

On Friday morning, Jan.3, the 70-foot commercial fishing vessel Guardian ran aground just north of Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet, MA, on Cape Cod. According to a Coast Guard release, the vessel did not incur any damage, and no pollution resulted from the grounding. Five crew members were aboard the boat at the time. No injuries were reported.

A tugboat was dispatched to the site and pulled the vessel into deeper water at high tide at around 2:40 p.m. The cause of the grounding is being investigated.
