Maine Man Dies After Being Struck by Boat Propeller
A Maine boater died after he was apparently struck by his boat’s propeller after falling overboard.
According to a press release from the Maine Marine Patrol, Samuel Sharpe, 23, of Harpswell fell from his 19-foot center console while underway off South Harpswell on Friday evening (Aug. 16) at around 8:00 p.m. Officials believe Sharpe was hit by the boat’s propeller, based on his injuries.
Good Samaritans who witnessed the incident pulled Sharpe from the water at Potts Point Landing, but first responders were unable to save his life.
The Maine Marine Patrol is investigating the incident.
