October 15, 2024New Boat-Storage Facility Approved in Oak Bluffs, MA
The Martha’s Vineyard Commission recently approved construction of a new boat-storage facility in Oak Bluffs, along the Tisbury border. The facility, which will be owned and operated by the Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard, involves removal of ancient forest to make room for a 5,000-square-foot concrete pad on Holmes Hole Road.
According to the Vineyard Gazette, the MVC approval only allows for the storage of boats; no repairs, service, cleaning, prepping, painting, sanding, powerwashing, soda-blasting, or similar operations will be done at the site. Naturally, many neighboring residents and environmental groups have opposed the project.
