The 15.3 lb., 32.6” fluke (summer flounder) taken on June 8 in Niantic Bay by Bill Proulx of Ashford, CT, has been approved as the new state record.
The catch supplanted the previous state record, set in 2019, of 14 lbs., 13 oz. Incidentally, the all-tackle world record for summer flounder is a 22 lb., 7 oz. fluke taken by Charlie Nappi off Montauk, NY, in 1975.
