One person is dead and two others are missing after a boating accident in Old Saybrook, Connecticut on Monday night.
The accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. on Monday, September 2.
According to Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials, multiple agencies, including state Environmental Conservation Police, responded to the scene and found a half-submerged powerboat near Harbor One Marina.
The boat reportedly struck the northern end of the east break wall at the mouth of the Connecticut River and suffered significant damage.
DEEP officials said nine people were on the boat at the time of the accident, and several people were ejected from the boat.
The body of a deceased adult male was later recovered from inside the vessel. Two adult males were reported missing. Six people were taken to a local hospital, with one of them in critical condition.
Rescue personnel searched for the two missing men until 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. They resumed search efforts at 7 a.m.
