Our History

neb-timeline-50-yearsNew England Boating might have relaunched in 2024, but it’s been around in various forms for nearly half a century. In fact, New England Boating will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2026.

This pillar of New England’s boating scene began back in 1976 when founder Herb Gliick created New England Offshore Magazine by himself. The new publication was a hit with boaters from around the region and it set the tone for a business that would thrive and evolve for the next five decades.

As the magazine’s following grew over the years, new owners and a dedicated staff shared the stories that enticed cruisers, anglers, and explorers to seek out the special experiences, scenery, and flavors of our beloved New England. The product changed, too, evolving to reach its growing and committed audience, and transitioning from a newsprint tabloid to a glossy magazine. It eventually shifted branding to reach digital and television audiences, and it carried new names to go along with new stories told on new platforms: BoatingLocal, New England Boating, New England Fishing, Explore New England.

Today, Blueview Productions has relaunched New England Boating and Fishing with an exciting new cross-platform brand dedicated to inspiring adventures in New England. Come along and join us as we cruise, fish, and explore the ever-changing coastlines and waterways of New England, and share the stories that inspire our audience to create stories of their own.
