Sailor Stuck In Ice Rescued On Lake Champlain
A sailor whose boat became trapped in ice on Lake Champlain had to be rescued last week.
According to officials with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, a 33-year-old man from Montreal was living on a moored sailboat in Lake Champlain along the border of Vermont and New York.
Forest rangers from New York received a request to help the sailor at 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10.
Cold weather had reportedly caused ice to form, locking the boat in place more than a mile from shore.
Three forest rangers used an airboat and broke the ice along the way to create a path to the sailboat.
Rangers helped the sailor onto the airboat and transported him to shore.
