Angler Breaks RI Tautog Record

The Angler Vinny Simms Jr. set a new Rhode Island state record for tautog (aka blackfish) with a 22-pound, 5.28-ounce monster taken aboard Capt. Rob Taylor’s Reel E-Z charter boat on October 21, 2024.

The massive ‘tog measured 34 inches long and bested the previous state record, set in 2021, by about 12 ounces. The fish was weighed at Quaker Lane Bait & Tackle in North Kingstown, RI.
