Massachusetts boating season is officially underway as many state-managed boat ramps and public water access facilities reopen for the 2026 season across the Commonwealth.
The Massachusetts Office of Fishing and Boating Access reports that launch ramps, waterfront access points, and boating facilities are now welcoming recreational boaters, anglers, paddlers, and outdoor enthusiasts as warmer spring weather returns to New England.
Popular boating regions including Cape Cod, the South Shore, Merrimack Valley, the Connecticut River, and Western Massachusetts lake areas are expected to see increased activity heading toward Memorial Day weekend and the summer season.
Officials are reminding boaters to inspect life jackets and safety equipment, review local boating regulations, and help prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species by cleaning boats and trailers before moving between waterways.
State officials say spring is one of the busiest times of the year for public launch facilities as thousands of recreational boaters return to New England’s lakes, rivers, and coastal waters.
