ACR’s groundbreaking ResQLink AIS Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) ($520) combines Automatic Identification System (AIS) functionality, Return Link Service (RLS) technology, and Near Field Communication (NFC) capability in a single 406 MHz beacon.

Designed solely for marine use, the combination of 406 MHz and AIS distress messaging pairs global and local rescue alerts in a single beacon, extending access to the Coast Guard and local Search & Rescue, as well as commercial and recreational boats in the area by alerting nearby AIS-equipped boats to the user’s position.

In addition, NFC capability allows smartphone monitoring and control of PLB functions and records, while Return Link Service lets users know when their distress message has been received and their location detected by the Coast Guard.
