Nashua Man Dies Following Merrimack River Boating Crash

HUDSON, N.H. — New Hampshire authorities are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred Sunday on the Merrimack River.
Emergency crews responded to a crash near the Old Sagamore Bridge at approximately 5:16 p.m. on July 26. According to New Hampshire State Police, Erick H. Machado, 31, of Nashua, was operating a personal watercraft when it collided with the rear of a pontoon boat.
Machado was thrown into the water and struck by the boat’s propeller, suffering serious injuries. People in the area helped remove him from the water and bring him to shore, where emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the death does not appear suspicious. New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
