Search Ends in Tragedy After Woman Dies in Long Pond Incident

LAKEVILLE, Mass. — A large multi-agency search on Long Pond in Lakeville ended early Wednesday morning when the body of a 24-year-old Brockton woman was recovered after she reportedly fell from a personal watercraft Tuesday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Nelson Island and Big Beach at approximately 6 p.m. after reports that the woman had entered the water. The extensive search involved the Lakeville Police and Fire Departments, Massachusetts Environmental Police, the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, the SEMLEC Dive Team, and the Plymouth County Dive Team.
Authorities recovered the woman shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the Lakeville Police Department, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
